Pupil Voice

pv161Pupil Voice are an elected committee of pupils that meet on a regular basis to discuss issues and share ideas about various elements of school life. Pupil Voice includes pupils form year 2 -6. A boy and a girl from each class are elected to represent their classes in the Pupil Voice meetings.

The agendas are often set by teachers who are subject leaders to provide them with vital feedback about their pv162subject areas and inform future planning or by the Senior Leaders in school to gain pupil’s opinions on decisions that affect them.

Agendas are sent out prior to the meeting and are discussed in class. Pupil Voice reps then make notes of the class discussions that they use to feedback to the Pupil Voice meetings.  pv163Minutes of the meetings are then shared with the teachers, Senior Leaders and Governors.

Every year our Pupil Voice reps have a trip to the Houses of Parliament where they learn about the historyof Westminster Palace, how the government works and how they can get involved with campaigning.

Issues that Pupil Voice have had involvement with:

pv164
  • Teacher' feedback - how effective it is, how children respond to it and which type of feedback is most helpful in improving work.
  • How we create our own liturgy in classrooms, what supports our learning of RE and what opportunities there are for special prayer.
  • School lunches - our favourite meals, ideas for improving lunch times and trying to think of ways to minimise the waste of food.
  • Our learning in subjects across the curriculum – what is good, what we like, what could be improved, how we learn best in particular subjects etc.

Often the topics discussed with pupils feed directly into the School Development Plan.
