Pupil Voice

pv161Pupil Voice are an elected committee of pupils that meet on a regular basis to discuss issues and share ideas about various elements of school life. Pupil Voice includes pupils form year 2 -6. A boy and a girl from each class are elected to represent their classes in the Pupil Voice meetings.

The agendas are often set by teachers who are subject leaders to provide them with vital feedback about their pv162subject areas and inform future planning or by the Senior Leaders in school to gain pupil’s opinions on decisions that affect them.

Agendas are sent out prior to the meeting and are discussed in class. Pupil Voice reps then make notes of the class discussions that they use to feedback to the Pupil Voice meetings.  pv163Minutes of the meetings are then shared with the teachers, Senior Leaders and Governors.

Issues that Pupil Voice have had involvement with:

  • Our learning and understanding of Science before Science week
  • School lunches - our favourite meals, ideas for improving lunch times and trying to think of ways to minimise the waste of food.
  • Feeling Safe at school - we talked about what being safe means, what makes us feel safe or unsafe, as well as the places around school that we feel safe or unsafe.
  • Our learning in subjects across the curriculum – what is good, what we like, what could be improved, how we learn best in particular subjects etc.
  • Working with pupils from other local primary schools to take part in community events such as Celebrate Woking.
  • Past members put forward the idea of a time capsule to Woking Borough Council as a way of remembering the legacy of 2012.
