Conservation

Survivors We are looking forward to a fantastic final half term in Year 5 with our focus for the summer term -conservation.
This emotive topic brings together RE, English, Science and Geography teaching. We look at the important catholic belief of Stewardship and our responsibility to love and care for those around us. Poetry writing will allow our creativity to shine as we look at the country of India and in particular the Indian Monsoon. In Geography, we will continue our study of tiger conservation in India, with a particular focus on what people can do to protect these most majestic and endangered of God’s creations.
In English, the children will use this learning to help them to write a persuasive piece of writing advising why we need to help to save the tigers.

In addition to this, we will continue to build on our computer coding skills from Summer 1, where we have learnt about loops, selection and variation, to progress to coding a micro:bit. Other exciting opportunities include the continuation of our learning in science about lifecycles and looking in particular at the lifecycle of a butterfly.

Finally, we will once again be taking part in the Science expo, sharing our science learning with Years 3 and 4.
